On the evening of March 30, we were warmly welcomed by the Scottsdale Unified School District community as we presented “I Love My Children, But… How Parents Can Minimize Liability Caused by Acts of Their Adolescent Children” at the Mohave District Annex. We covered some common sources of parental liability for the conduct of minor children, including underage drinking, the circumstances under which parents may be liable for their children’s negligent driving, and liability of parents for intentional acts of their children (for example, assault and shoplifting/theft). We also discussed the best ways for parents to insure for their own liability for the tortious conduct of their children. Bryn and I wish to thank those in attendance, whose insightful questions and comments made this truly an interactive presentation!
It is our hope that by discussing the most common sources of parental liability for the conduct of our children, parents will engage in those difficult yet vitally important discussions with their children to minimize the risk of harm to themselves and others.
Thank you to the SUSD community! We enjoyed interacting with those in attendance and look forward to doing so once again.
